Overview
Recognizing the physical expressions of people with disabilities as artistic expressions.
The movement to redefine the unique expressive activities of people with disabilities as artistic expression began in Japan in the early 1990s. It mainly started in the field of fine arts, such as painting.
Around the same time, in the field of physical expression, Wolfgang Stange began holding regular dance workshops for people with and without disabilities, and spread his methods and ideas throughout Japan.

The joy of physical movement, new experiences, new philosophies and a sense of fulfilment never before experienced.
From this workshop, a movement began in Japan to rethink the physical expression of people with disabilities as artistic expression.
The film conveys the dance workshop and its ideas, which never rust in any age. And it continues to be loved and trusted by many people.

Dance workshop enjoyed together by people with and without disabilities.
Wolfgang Stange has been running dance workshops for people with and without mental and physical disabilities since around 1975, based in London.
It's not therapy. It is a new art form," says Wolfgang Stange.
In his workshops, the usually denigrated physical movements of people with disabilities are seen as beautiful, developed and shared.
Through the free movement of the body and the creation of dance, people with and without disabilities become aware of their own expressive abilities.
"In Wolfgang's workshops, we don't follow set patterns, we're free to do whatever we want, so we can move however we want. It's really fun to dance." (Participant's comment)
"It was my first time interacting with people with disabilities, but as we danced together, it became hard to tell who was disabled and who wasn't, and it felt really strange." (Participant's comment)

Ideas that will not fade away in any age.
In the summer of 1990, Wolfgang Stange visited Japan and held a five-day dance workshop.
A total of 40 people with disabilities, professional dancers, special needs teachers and music teachers gathered at the venue.
Many of them had never danced before and some were interacting with people with disabilities for the first time.
"Everyone's different Everyone's beautiful" is a documentary that follows workshop participants as they discover the joy of moving their bodies freely and come to create dance pieces together in just five days.
The film also includes interviews with Wolfgang Stange and introduces the dance, which can be enjoyed by people with and without disabilities, and the philosophy of coexistence.
"Everything my son has been denied is being affirmed here. He realizes that there is something here that he has never experienced before. Look at his happy face!" (Comment of participant's mother)
